The Go-Go’s – Speeding

¿Os acordáis de The Go-Go’s? Fue el primer grupo de pop rock integrado únicamente por mujeres (tocando los instrumentos y componiendo además de cantar, se entiende) que trascendió hasta el gran público. Tuvieron éxitos como We Got The Beat o Vacation. Aunque quizá ninguna canción consiguiese el reconocimiento popular que sí consigió su vocalista, Belinda Carlisle, en solitario con Heaven Is a Place on Earth.

Pues bien, el segundo disco de las Go-Go’s, Vacation, tuvo a su vez un segundo single titulado Get Up and Go, cuya cara B era Speeding, la canción que traemos hoy a esta sección.
La letra, compuesta por Charlotte Caffey y Jane Wiedlin (las dos guitarristas de la banda) nos habla de cómo les gusta pisar el acelerador, y conducir tan rápido como puedan en todo momento.

Como curiosidad, ese mismo año apareció en la banda sonora de Aquel excitante curso, aquella comedia protagonizada por unos jóvenes Sean Penn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Forest Whitaker o Phoebe Cates. Ésto provocó que llegase a ser más conocida que el propio single al que acompañaba, apareciendo luego en recopilatorios del grupo, de música de películas, o de canciones de los 80s.
