Lottery Singapore

Founded in 1968, Lottery Singapore is the only legal lottery company that operates in Singapore. It organizes a wide variety of games, including 4D, Toto and Singapore Sweep. They also run sports betting on football and horse races.

The state-owned company has been regulated by the Tote Board since 1 May 2004. It is a statutory board under the Ministry of Finance and is the sole legal bookmaker and totalisator for sports betting.

According to official statistics, the amount spent on lottery and sports betting in Singapore last year soared 40 per cent from the previous financial year. This was due to factors like relaxed Covid-19 measures and the resumption of global sports tournaments.

A woman who violated Covid-19 laws by leaving her house to eat, get vaccinated and collect her lottery winnings was sentenced to nine weeks in jail on Wednesday. The 60-year-old Ang Siew Wah had close contact with Covid-19 patients, and was convicted of breaching the Infectious Diseases Act by exposing others to the risk of infection.

Toto is a national lottery in Singapore that offers 6 numbers plus one additional number drawn at random from the ranges of 1 to 49. It costs $1 and is available twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.

The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 13,983,816 and there is a minimum prize of $1 million. Players can win up to $10 for matching 3 numbers.

The winner’s winnings are not taxed, which is a good thing. They also do not require annuity payments, which is a common practice among lottery winners.
